Terminal blocks plays an important role in the electrical connection, so the material used for the terminal blocks need to be above the national standard, such as flame resistance, insulation resistance, impact resistance, etc. ,famous brand always have better quality.
Material for terminal blocks widely used in the market currently are Polycarbonate, Urea resin (jade powder) and ABS engineering plastics.

1. Polycarbonate, commonly known as bullet-proof plastic. It is an excellent engineering thermoplastics with high strength, high toughness, high heat resistance, high fire-retardant, high electrical insulation properties and resistance to ultraviolet light, stable color, etc., and widely used in automotive, electrical and electronics, buildings, office equipment, packaging, sports equipment, medical equipment, household goods and other fields. It is mainly used to produce sockets panel, frame and housing in switches, even some factory use it to produce back seat.

2. Urea resin, known as urea-formaldehyde resin, UF, pressed plastic powder known as jade powder. It is the main material of switches and sockets in domestic in the last century before the 1990s. As insulating material used in electrical products, it has worse impact resistance, abrasion resistance, heat resistance and insulating properties compared with the advanced PC material, and easy to change color, becomes very rough if touch the surface more. It is widely used by many middle and low-end brand in the production of switches and sockets panel.

3.ABS, to acrylonitrile - butadiene - styrene copolymer, it is a general-purpose engineering plastics, they have many varieties, widely versatility, also known as "GE Plastics." It is the main material for witch socket in the last century before the 1990s,  but now it is widely used for the production of the bottom box. Though ABS have some surface hardness, it is much bad in the impact resistance, flame resistance, and easily oxidized color, appear yellow color in the surface in short time. However, many low-grade, ultra-low-end switch socket products are still produced using ABS panel, frame and mounting bracket, but they don’t call it ABS directly, instead by advanced engineering plastics.

It is noteworthy that switches and sockets made by ABS are generally used in some newly developed commercial housing,and it is not suitable for home decoration.
